Snake Trap: This appropriately named snake trap is the best rated snake trap both for its effectiveness and price. The Snake Trap is an indoor and outdoor, low profile box with a bio-safe adhesive inside that entraps snakes or other insects and rodents that enter the box. The snakes are caught alive, and will survive for sometime so they can be relocated in an area where they will not be a problem to humans.
The Snake Trap is made out of quality corrugated plastic for strength. It measures 18″ X 12″ and 2″ tall, and is capable of catching snakes in excess of 5 feet. The Snake Trap attracts snakes from near by due to a few different factors. Foremost, snakes are attracted to dark covered areas to seek cover and to hide themselves from the heat or cold. Second, snakes like hiding places where they can hide and wait to ambush prey as it comes by, also looking for dark covered areas. Snake Guard Snake Trap:
The Snake Gaurd Snake Trap has a great design and set up that works well.
Of the snake traps on the market, I believe this is actually the best design. Snakes enter this snake trap and are funneled into the trap with traction devices which keep the snake on the edge of the trap and actually funnels the snake to the center portion of the box before it becomes trapped on the glue. This makes sure the snake is committed and not able to back out of the trap.
The Snake Guard snake trap is light, biodegradable, easy to set up, and easy to dispose of. These however are the same reasons that this snake trap is in the third position. First of all, this trap is a one time use product, which makes the per snake cost quite expensive. Second, the Snake Guard is made out of cardboard, which means the trap will become useless if it is exposed to to much rain and direct sunshine. Third, this snake trap is very expensive when you consider the fact that it is basically a nice piece of cardboard with some glue on it.
The reason why the Snake Guard made it to our list of the Best Snake Traps is due to the fact that it is effective if placed in the right spot. It is ideal for anywhere that is out of the elements such as in a garage, shop, home, or covered outdoor area.

Homemade Snake Trap:
You can easily make a home made snake trap for very cheap!
It is very possible for a person to save a good amount of money and build their own snake trap. You can see that from the snake traps featured above, the design is not exactly rocket science. In fact, as all as it really takes is a box with either open ends or you can cut rectangular holes and then place some glue board traps in side the box. If there is a chance that you may have to deal with bigger snakes, then you should probably use larger glue boards or several, as well as you might want to tape them to the ground or bottom of box with some duct tape. There really is no wrong way to build a homemade snake trap.
Homemade Snake Trap
While a homemade snake trap may not be quite as effective or as nice to look at as the ones listed above, I have seen them work. You may also choose to spend a little more time on your homemade snake trap and use better materials such as wood so that you can use it out doors or where others might see it.
Almost any box will work, but make sure you have good glue boards.
You can find glue board sticky traps at just about any hardware store, Wall-Mart, or grange supply, but there is a good chance they wont be strong enough to stick a good size snake. It definitely helps to have high quality glue boards inside of your homemade snake trap.
